Highlights of Our 2023 Grateful Dead Music Festival!

Jerry Garcia himself must have sent us, “Here Comes Sunshine,” for the second annual Grateful Dead Tribute & Craft Festival held on Sunday, July 30th at Harmony Hall. “We really lucked out with a picture-perfect summer day following weeks of pop-up torrential storms,” commented board president Andrea LaMantia.

Friends of Harmony Hall board member and Sloatsburg Chamber of Commerce secretary Kathy Goldman, the organizer of this event, said she chooses a festival date as close as possible to Jerry’s birthday (8/1/1942) to honor the music legacy he left us to enjoy.

The event was well-attended by a tie-dye-wearing crowd who rocked along to three bands - Touch of Grey, Uncle Shoehorn, and Reflections. The Great Lawn was alive with fantastic music, talented artisans, delicious food, and wonderful friendships.

Chamber president Aidan Hand was the ever-engaging emcee and Chamber vice president Susie McDonagh along with friends volunteered throughout the day. Kathy Diamond’s Sloatsburg Girl Scouts and many others also volunteered. Special thanks to the cooperation of our neighbors especially St. Joan of Arc Church and The Sloatsburg Public Library.

The music portion of this project was made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant, a regrant program of the Council of the Arts with the support of the Governor’s office and the NYS Legislature and administered by ArtsWestchester.

The Friends of Harmony Hall-Jacob Sloat House, The Town of Ramapo, and The Sloatsburg Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event. Funds raised will go toward the restoration of historic Harmony Hall-Jacob Sloat House. The Not Just a Front Porch Campaign is underway to restore the front veranda which is in critical need of repair.
