Victorian Holiday is a beloved Friends of Harmony Hall-Jacob Sloat House tradition since our inception in 2006. The all-volunteer FOHH welcomed a steady stream of guests, valued members, family, and friends from the tri-state area. The rainy day did not diminish but enhanced a festive atmosphere of bountiful new holiday decorations and lights! Guests were treated to a generous table of varied sweet treats and our signature hot mulled cider, Ye Olde Holiday Shoppe, children’s crafts, and exceptional music by The Hudson Valley Wind and Brass Ensemble. The ensemble members were joined by returning vocal talent Stacey Tirro, who captivated the entire appreciative audience with holiday classics in the magnificent double parlor of the mansion! Board President Andrea LaMantia, dressed in elegant Victorian garb, read the beloved holiday classic, “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” better known as “’ Twas the Night Before Christmas,” as guests eagerly awaited the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus at 3 PM.
As early evening came upon Harmony Hall, a magnificent glow transformed the exterior of the house and the interior reception rooms of the 175-year-old architectural treasure, Harmony Hall. In the quiet, after an exciting and gratifying event, the FOHH board was treated to a opportunity of serene fellowship, as we navigated our ongoing busy personal and professional lives, was much appreciated by all present. It was a time to give thanks for another year of preservation advocacy and progress, remember several of our devoted friends and supporters
who passed away, and look to 2024 with much hope as The FOHH moves closer to raising funding for the mobilization of the Front Porch Restoration project. In addition, a highly anticipated window restoration project of one original south parlor window is planned over this winter, giving new meaning to seeing discoveries through a significant 1848 design element of Harmony Hall!
Sincere wishes for a blessed Holiday Season that includes health, moments of joy, and memories made.
