Our 2024 Victorian Holiday Recap

Updated: Dec 18, 2024

The Friends of Harmony Hall’s well-attended 18th annual Victorian Holiday on Sunday, December 8, 2024, greeted new and old friends as they arrived at a most beautifully adorned front porch. Once again, board members Peter Bush, Linda Karen, and Kathy Goldman showcased their creativity in Victorian holiday decor.

The glow of new and festive holiday displays highlighted the handsomely restored three south parlor windows. Guests were treated to our signature hot mulled cider, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, sweet treats, and Ye Olde Holiday Shoppe with unique handmade items for the entire family.

Several exuberant and delightful children enjoyed an afternoon of crafts and making holiday cards with member Kat Diamond. Board President Andrea LaMantia read the holiday classic A Visit from St Nicholas (better known as ’Twas the Night Before Christmas), first published in 1823 and very much in the spirit of the Victorian mansion.

The Hudson Valley Brass and Wind Ensemble provided glorious holiday music throughout the four-hour event, and singer Stacey Tirro excelled with holiday favorites and a particularly moving rendition of “Mary, Did You Know?”

As the year comes to a close, Victorian Holiday celebrates our 2024 restoration

work, our membership, and the board members who tirelessly move the Harmony Hall restoration preservation forward. We thank Rockland Bakery for their generous cupcake donation and Rockland County Tourism for advertising.

Many first-time guests and members were complimentary of the event, and the “Harmony Halls” of Jacob Sloat’s mansion certainly welcomed all with the warmth that embraces the symbolism of the Christmas Holiday Season.
