A delightful first at Harmony Hall was an outdoor stage production. The Children’s
Shakespeare Theatre performed Timon of Athens on Saturday evening, September 14. Timon Of Athens is the only play in Shakespeare’s canon (c. 39 works) that was never performed during his lifetime. Director Grey Johnson seamlessly put his excellent young actors through their paces. The remaining front porch of Harmony Hall served as a unique stage. The actors did an exceptional job navigating stage entrances and exits from three house entrance points! Creative costume and set design served the cast and production well!
The sublime late September weather and rising moon added to the wonderful theatrical experience of a well-attended event. Theatergoers included guests from Brooklyn and Boston.
Thank you to director Grey Johnson, the Children’s Shakespeare Theatre Board of Directors, The Timon of Athens cast, their parents, and friends—special thanks to assistant director Katy Bolger for her vision and enthusiasm for bringing Shakespeare to Harmony Hall. Katy recently retired from NYC Public Schools, where she taught Shakespeare for 25 years. We are excited to welcome Katy to Harmony Hall to share her love of Shakespeare with others.
